Subject Matter Expert: José L. Toro, P.E., MS EE
José L. Toro, P.E., MS EE, is a US-educated native of Ecuador, where he currently practices as a consulting engineer primarily in the area of communications and control systems. Early projects include the computerized theatrical lighting and dimming systems for two theaters in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He also designed specialized communication and alarm systems for a 400-bed children’s hospital; a communication, alarm and energy saving system for the 17-story Banco Central Building; and specialized communication systems for an urban public transit hub station and for several other institutional buildings.
For the past twelve years, Mr. Toro has mainly concentrated on providing PLC-based automation solutions for existing industries. Recent major projects include: an in-line blending plant for automotive lube oil for a Texaco subsidiary; an animal-feed blending plant; a cardboard corrugating plant; many individual machines such as bottle fillers, sachet fillers, stackers, conveyors, etc. Several projects involved operator interfaces (HMI), PID loop motor control, motor drives and industrial networks. He also provides training seminars on these topics.
Mr. Toro holds an M.S.E.E. from Newark College of Engineering in Electrical Engineering, Communications and Control Systems.
