Overview
The purpose of this course is to familiarize the engineer with the earthquake risk to schools and the processes and methods that can be used to reduce it. Knowing these risks along with determining the earthquake threat to a specific location can help determine the building’s vulnerability in the event of an earthquake. Although this material is written for schools, it is applicable to all buildings.
In this course, the student will review Chapters 4 from “Design Guide for Improving School Safety in Earthquakes, Floods, and High Winds”, FEMA P-424 / December 2010.
The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of fifteen (15) questions at the end of the course to obtain 3 PDH credits.
