Overview
This course was written to bring the fundamentals all engineers learn together with real world operating economics to gain an understanding of energy use and cost patterns of commercial and industrial sites. It is suitable for all engineers.
It begins with a brief restatement of the fundamentals to establish consistency and then progresses to examining the information needed to evaluate energy use and the way the information can be presented graphically. Issues surrounding thermodynamic versus economic efficiency are identified.
Actual case studies are used in the explanation of methodologies along with insights into interpreting the results. Discussions include understanding utility rate structures and their impacts on system selection.
The skills learned in this course will be useful to anyone seeking to optimize energy system operating costs.
The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of ten (10) questions at the end of this course to obtain PDH credits.
