Raymond Ehrhard, P.E.

Overview

EPA has developed a plain-English guide as a “road map” to help interested parties navigate through the complex Part 75 Continuous Emission Monitoring (CEM) rule. This course will use this guide to study the CEM monitoring requirements for monitoring stack gas emissions.  This will be useful to people responsible for complying with the rule, regulatory agencies assessing compliance with the rule, and others who want a general understanding of the emissions monitoring approach used in EPA’s emissions trading programs.

EPA has established stack monitoring requirements under various programs, including: the Acid Rain Program (ARP), the NOx Budget Trading Program (NBP), the Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR) and the Clean Air Mercury Rule (CAMR). This course summarizes the monitoring requirements under each of these rules and outlines certification testing and QA/QC standards. This material provides a general overview of the EPA Part 75 regulations and clarifies the technical provisions.

The course will be beneficial to a student with basic knowledge of air pollution control who is interested in learning about the continuous emission monitoring requirements.  It is also an excellent overview for professionals working in the field of air pollution control.

The student is expected to read and review the material contained in the Plain English Guide to the Part 75 Rule, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Clean Air Markets Division, September 2005.

The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of forty (40) questions at the end of this course to obtain 8 PDH credits.
