Sanitary Landfill Design
Vincent Reynolds, P.E.
Overview
People produce large amounts of solid waste.
When we place a piece of paper or any other undesired object in the trash, it is
the beginning of a process that culminates with the object being discarded in a
sanitary landfill. Sanitary landfills are the final destination points for
our solid wastes. On a daily basis, solid waste is placed, compacted and finally
covered in place in our nation's landfills. After reading this 4 hour course the
student will have valuable information that can be used to assist in the design
of sanitary landfills.
The course materials are based solely on the materials “Sanitary Landfill” as
published on the website of the Army Corp of Engineers.
The student must take a
multiple-choice quiz consisting of twenty (20) questions at the end of this course to earn PDH credits.
