Overview
This course is intended for architects, environmental engineers and anyone else interested in knowing about the process of mold development in buildings. The objective of the course is to outline the evaluation method for designing and building composite walls in different climatic zones and to give a tool for the designers to avoid mold development. Case studies highlight the pitfalls of inappropriate wall section designs.
This course has no specific prerequisites; however knowledge of psychrometrics is a plus in understanding the physics of vapor migration and condensation
The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of fifteen (15) questions at the end of the course to obtain PDH credits.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Knowledge of how different climatic conditions will dictate certain type of wall compositions.
- Understanding the interacting nature of different mold types and the human reaction to them.
- Recognition of conditions that create preferred conditions for mold growth.
