Overview
Our coastlines are the interface between water and land. The coastal engineer must evaluate the interactions, and unique forces of this environment in all aspects of planning and design. Any project in the coastal environment will need to define its location in terms of datums. The coastal environment has a specific set of datums that reference water level changes over periods of hours, days, years , centuries and even epochs.
Forces unique to the coastal environment are generated by waves, tides, and storm surges. This course will introduce (or review) these factors that influence all coastal processes and coastal engineering design criteria.
The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of twenty (20) questions at the end of this course to obtain PDH credits.
