Overview
This course provides an overview of hydrologic methods commonly used in urban drainage design.
In this course, the student will review Chapter 3 of Hydraulic Engineering Circular 22, Urban Hydrologic Procedures. This chapter addresses the following subjects:
- Rainfall
- Determination of Peak Flow Rates
- Development of Design Hydrographs
This course is relevant to municipal engineers, highway engineers, and consulting engineers serving private developers.
The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of twenty (20) questions at the end of this course to obtain PDH credits.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Calculation of peak runoff by the Rational Method
- Using the USGS Regression Urban & Rural Equations
- Calculation of the SCS Peak Flow Method
- Developing Hydrographs
