Overview
This two-hour course discusses electrical ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCI’s), how they work and the benefits to society. The course reviews the theory of operation, electrical characteristics, and the installation issues associated with GFCI’s.
The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of fifteen (15) questions at the end of this course to earn PDH credits.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Know the types of GFCI’s used around the world
- Understand the theory of operation
- Learn the purpose of the detection coil
- Know the characteristics of Type A GFCI’s
- Understand the purpose of a portable GFCI
- Know the correct wiring scenarios for proper operation
