Introduction to Electrical Safety for Engineers
Steven G. Liescheidt, P.E., CSI-CCS, CCPR.
Overview
Electrical safety begins at the design phase of a project and carries through to
the operation of the facility.
In
this course the student will become familiar with the occupational safety and
health considerations which should be inherent to every electrical system. In
designing, operating and maintaining electrical systems, the engineer must
consider the occupational and environmental hazards associated with electrical
components, as well as the safety of the surrounding community from fires and
explosions.
The student is expected to read and review the material contained in Exam
Reference: An Introduction to Electrical Safety for Engineers – NIOSH
Instructional Module - SHAPE – Safety/Health Awareness for Preventive
Engineering --- U.S. Department of Health and Human Services - June 1993.
The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of
forty (40) questions at the end of
this course to obtain PDH credits.
