Overview
EPA uses many methods to clean up pollution at Superfund and other sites. This course presents over twenty EPA-approved methods for cleaning contaminated soils. For each method, the course describes 1) how the method works, 2) how safe it is, 3) how long it will take, and 4) why it is used.
Each of the twenty methods is described in terminology that is easily understood by those not fully versant in industry jargon.
This course is intended primarily for civil, construction, environmental, and geotechnical engineers and would be of special interest to engineers needing to communicate soil remediation options and issues to the lay public.
This course is based on a compilation of the “Citizen’s Guide Series” technical publications produced by the EPA Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response in 2001-2002 for Superfund cleanup.
A multiple choice quiz consisting of twenty five (25) questions must be passed to earn PDH credit.
