Erosion and Sediment Control Best Management Practices

Course No. EN-6002

Credit: 6 PDH

Course Fee: $164.95 Purchase course

Subject Matter Expert: Vincent D. Reynolds, M.B.A., P.E.

Overview

Erosion and Sedimentation control is essential to protect the environment from the effects of land disturbance activities. A well designed erosion and sedimentation control plan often will employ several best management practices that will prevent or reduce the escape of sediment from the land disturbing activity site. The erosion and sediment control measures must be maintained at all times from the initial to the final disturbance.

Erosion and Sedimentation control is possible by utilizing several best management practices that include structural and vegetation methods. Some good examples of these measures include silt fences, sediment basins, hay bales, mulching, and grassing to name a few.

The study materials for this course are based solely on the text “Best Management Practices for Erosion and Sediment Control” as published by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of forty (40) questions at the end of this course to obtain PDH credits.
