Overview
Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) piles are used to sustain the axial and lateral force from structures such as roadway embankments, bridge footings, and building foundations, to name a few. This course will present to the engineer the Design and Construction of Continuous Flight Auger Piles. Several chapters of the study materials are devoted to construction methods and Quality Control \ Quality Assurance (QC\QA) procedures.
CFA piles are used domestically and internationally for various structural purposes. This course will discuss the use of CFA piles around the world and give insights on the budgetary as well as construction concerns faced by engineers and contractors worldwide.
This course will provide information on CFA pile types, the materials used, construction methods, and (QA \ QC) procedures. Several example problems will be discussed to aid the student in understanding the design requirements, as well as the various equations and solution as presented in the course materials. The student will learn how to solve for side-shear strength, bearing capacity, reinforcement requirements, as well as solve other ancillary equations related to designing CFA piles.
After reading this 12 hour course the student will have valuable information that can be used to effectively design, and construct CFA piles.
The course materials are based solely on the materials “Design and Construction of Continuous Flight Auger Piles” as published on the website of the Federal Highway Administration.
The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of sixty (60) questions at the end of this course to obtain PDH credits.
