Overview
The practice of engineering in the Commonwealth of Virginia is regulated by the Board For Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers And Landscape Architects (APELSCIDLA BOARD).
This 13-member Board examines, licenses and regulates the approximately 35,000 Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers, and Landscape Architects and related business entities in Virginia. The Board was established in 1920 for Architects, Engineers and Surveyors. Landscape Architects were added in 1980 and Interior Designers joined in 1990.
Many changes to Virginia law affecting Professional Engineers have been recently enacted. Perhaps because of its direct influence on every PE in the state, one of the most notable changes is a new continuing education requirement.
This course, based on the APELSCIDLA regulations and the Virginia Code, is an excellent update and refresher on applicable Virginia law and ethics issues facing Virginia-licensed engineers.
A large portion of the course revolves around the Standards of Practice and Conduct that each Virginia PE has agreed to uphold at the time of original licensure and at each renewal. You will learn how the state regulations expect you as an engineer to react when faced with common ethical concerns you face daily.
