EPA – Indoor Air Quality Building Education
And Assessment Guidance (I-BEAM)

Overview
In
today’s complex building structures it is imperative that the HVAC engineer have
a basic knowledge of indoor air quality issues and how design, maintenance,
construction and renovation can affect the building IAQ.
In
this course the student will learn some specific knowledge with respect to
indoor air quality issues from design, construction, renovation, management and
maintenance points of view.
The
student is expected to read and review the material contained in the EPA Indoor
Air Quality Education and Assessment Guidance (I-BEAM).
The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of forty (40) questions
at the end of this course to obtain PDH credits.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Attained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and
skills:
- Fundamentals of IAQ in
buildings
- Improving IAQ within
budget
- Refining maintenance
programs for IAQ
- Better understanding of
housekeeping for good IAQ
- Conducting of IAQ audits
- IAQ and energy efficiency
- HVAC design for IAQ
- Renovation and new
construction issues for good IAQ
