Agitators and Mixers
J.
Edward Hardin, P.E.
Overview
Agitators and mixers have been around for centuries. They are still an
essential part of processes in countless industries from manufacturing paint to
treating water. As technology has progressed, so have mixing apparatus.
Mixers, agitators and blenders continue to evolve as new requirements and new
applications are identified and as technology increases. For example, not
too long ago, energy costs were low. Thus, energy consumption of an
agitator was not usually a major design consideration. Nowadays, however,
energy costs are high enough to warrant consideration when designing or
selecting a mixer for your application.
The course author, who has
over 40 years of experience designing agitators and mixers for process
applications, provides a wealth of information and "been there, done that"
experience.
The student must take a
multiple-choice quiz consisting of fifteen (15) questions at the end of
this course to obtain PDH credits.
