Overview
Air contamination is a concern for ventilation engineers when it causes problems for building occupants. Engineers need to understand the vocabulary used by the air sampling and building air cleaning industry.
In this course the student will learn about the types and levels of air contaminants that might enter ventilation systems or be found as indoor contaminants. The student will also learn about industrial contaminants. The student will learn about classes of contaminants, particulates, bioaerosols, VOC, radon, gases and more.
The student is expected to read and review the material contained in the ASHRAE Handbook – 2005 Fundamentals, Chapter 12: Air Contaminants. Note that the 2005 ASHRAE Fundamentals Handbook is not provided as part of the purchase price for this course. It must be obtained separately by the student.
