Desiccant Dehumidification Systems for Comfort Conditioning

Course No. M-2032 Back to HVAC Courses
Credit: 2 PDH
Course Fee: $57.90

Steven G. Liescheidt, P.E., CSI-CCS, CCPR

Overview

Desiccant air-conditioning systems can be used as alternatives for conventional air-conditioning equipment in any commercial or residential building. Recent breakthroughs in desiccant materials technology and the creation of new markets by Indoor Air Quality issues make desiccant-based air-conditioning equipment practical for many space-conditioning applications.

In this course the student will learn some of the basic benefits that desiccant based air-conditioning systems provide for the building industry. Market evaluations, price/value evaluations, commercialization possibilities and system rating and certification standard development are also categories of learning that the student will benefit from by completing this course.

The student is expected to read and review the material contained in the document Moving Advanced Desiccant Materials into Mainstream Non-CFC Cooling Products, CRADA Final Report For CRADA Number ORNL94-321, DOE Contract No. DE-AC05-96)R22464, Published July, 1999.

The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of ten (10) questions at the end of this course to obtain PDH credits.
