Overview

Desiccant cooling systems are energy efficient and environmentally benign. Desiccant systems allow more fresh air into buildings, thus improving indoor air quality without using more energy. Desiccant systems also displace chlorofluorocarbon-based cooling equipment, the emissions from which contribute to the depletion of the Earth’s ozone layer.

In this course the student will learn some of the basic testing procedures for desiccant dehumidification wheels in order to better understand the effectiveness of this type of equipment. Through this course the student can gain a better understanding of the specifiable performance criteria for desiccant dehumidification wheels in both industrial and HVAC applications.

The student is expected to read and review the material contained in the Desiccant Dehumidification Wheel Test Guide, NREL/TP-550-26131 – December 2000.

The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of twenty-five (25) questions at the end of this course to obtain PDH credits.
