Overview
Fossil fuel-fired equipment (e.g. boilers, thermal oxidizers, process furnaces, dryers, ovens, heaters) frequently represents a significant portion of an industrial site’s total energy consumption. This course will cover several low-cost, quick-payback energy efficiency improvement opportunities that can be implemented relatively quickly and easily to improve productivity, reduce downtime and lower energy costs in existing facilities as well as those facilities that are still in the design phase.
This course is relevant for engineers involved in the design, maintenance and upgrade of fossil fuel-fired equipment, as well as for personnel (operations/maintenance) interested in improving energy efficiency at their facility. This course is suitable for engineers and managers with little or no knowledge of fuel-fired equipment as well as those seeking a refresher course on the basics. After completing this course, the engineer should be able to identify previously overlooked opportunities for the reduction of fuel consumption.
In this course, the student will review several documents from the US DOE website.
The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of twenty (20) questions at the end of this course to obtain PDH credit.
