Overview

Department of Energy (DOE) policy requires that all DOE activities be conducted in a manner that protects the safety of the public and provides a safe and healthful workplace for employees.  DOE has also prescribed that all personnel be protected in any explosives operation undertaken. The level of safety provided shall be at least equivalent to that of the best industrial practice. The risk of death or serious injury shall be limited to the lowest practicable minimum.

In this course the student will learn about the DOE requirements for handling explosive materials and the requirements for building and operating explosive storage facilities.

The student is expected to read and review the material contained in the DOE Explosives Safety Manual – UCRO-AM-208565 -  DOE M 440.1-1 -- December 7, 2004

The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of forty (40) questions at the end of this course to obtain PDH credits.
