Process Piping - Part 1 - General Piping Design

Overview
This 3-hour online course
provides a general overview of piping materials, strength design, temperature
effects, transient pressures, pipeline hydraulics, connections, supports, piping
identification, and testing. This course is relevant to Civil, Environmental,
Sanitary, and Mechanical Engineers in the many industries, including
water/wastewater, manufacturing, chemical, and HVAC. The course includes
examples of design calculations and references to relevant industry standards.
The course materials
consist of The US Army Corps of Engineers Publication EM1110-1-4008, Chapter 3.
The student must take a
multiple-choice quiz consisting of fifteen (15) questions at the end of
this course to obtain PDH credits.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Attained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and
skills:

Selection of the best
piping material for the specific application.

Understanding the numerous
codes and standards that apply to piping systems.

Loading on pipes: external,
internal, sustained, and transient loads.

Performing Hydraulic
calculations.
