Natural Ventilation of Large Open Structures

Overview
Natural ventilation of large buildings like barns,
warehouses, animal holding facilities and other large open structures is an
economical way to ventilate this type of building.
In this course, the student will learn some of the
basic principles of natural ventilation of large open structures. The student
will learn techniques used to maximize the effect of natural ventilation,
including optimum opening locations and orientations with respect to wind
direction and building orientation.
The student is expected to read and review the
material contained in the Natural Ventilation For Warm Housing, Canada Plan
Service, M-9760.
The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of ten (10) questions
at the end of this course to obtain PDH credits.

This course teaches the following specific knowledge and
skills:
- Advantages and
disadvantages of natural ventilation
- Chimney vs. ridge vent
- Seasonal impact of natural
ventilation effects
- Control of natural
ventilation openings.
- Factors affecting the
performance of natural ventilation designs.
