Overview

There are many types of pumps commercially available to choose from. How do you determine which type of pump is best for a particular application? This course will provide a comparison between centrifugal and positive displacement pumps (including both reciprocating and rotary pumps).

The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of ten questions at the end of this course to obtain PDH credits.

 

Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained

This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:

  • Identify the major categories of pumps commercially available, as well as the different types of pumps within each category.
  • Identify the ranges of flow rates and capacities within each pump category.
  • Understand the relative merits between pumps in each category.
