Underfloor Air Distribution

Overview

Recent trends in today’s office environment make it increasingly more difficult for conventional centralized HVAC systems to satisfy the environmental preferences of individual office workers using the standardized approach of providing a single uniform thermal and ventilation environment. A task/ambient conditioning system, such as an underfloor air distribution system, is defined as any space conditioning system that allows thermal conditions in small, localized zones to be individually controlled by building occupants, while still automatically maintaining acceptable environmental conditions

In this course the student will learn some of the basic concepts of underfloor air distribution systems including principles of operation, potential benefits, cost effectiveness and limitations.

The student is expected to read and review the material contained in Alternate Air Conditioning Technologies: Underfloor Air Distribution (UFAD) - FEMP/DOE/EE-0295 and FEMP/NTDP Technology Installation Review.

The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of ten (10) questions at the end of this course to obtain PDH credits.
