Unitary Air Conditioners
Steven G. Liescheidt, P.E., CSI-CCS, CCPR.
Overview
Unitary equipment and heat pumps have become popular equipment in many buildings
for a variety of reasons. Understanding the complexity of these units including
the air side, water side, refrigerant circuits, controls and other accessories
is imperative to proper selection, application, installation and operation.
In
this course the student will learn some of the basic design consideration issues
related to these seemingly simple, yet complex, pieces of equipment.
The
student is expected to read and review the material contained in the 2004 ASHRAE
HVAC Systems And Equipment Handbook, Chapter 45 –
Unitary Air Conditioners And
Heat Pumps. Note
that the 2004 ASHRAE HVAC Systems And Equipment Handbook is not provided as part of the purchase
price for this course. It must be obtained separately by the student.
If necessary, this document can be purchased through ASHRAE's online bookstore
at
http://resourcecenter.ashrae.org/store/ashrae/
or by contacting ASHRAE at:
Phone: 404-636-8400 Address: 1791 Tullie Circle, N.E., Atlanta, GA 30329
The
student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of twenty (20) questions at
the end of this course to obtain PDH credits.
