Ventilating and Heating of Small Livestock
Rooms
Steven G. Liescheidt, P.E., CSI-CCS, CCPR.
Overview
Modern livestock facilities frequently include one or several small rooms to
house the young, more sensitive animals. A small livestock room is hard to
ventilate. The small volume of air in the room is very sensitive to changes in
ventilation rate, heat supply and drafts due to uncontrolled air distribution.
In
this course the student will learn some techniques of how to effectively
ventilate small rooms holding animals in summer, winter or continuous operation
facilities. The principles of ventilation in this course can also be used in
ventilation of other similar facilities where ventilation of small rooms is one
of the engineering objectives.
The student is expected to read and review the material contained in the
document Ventilating and Heating Small Livestock Rooms, Canada Plan Service,
P-9750.
The student must take a
multiple-choice quiz consisting of ten (10) questions at the end of
this course to obtain PDH credits.
