When Its "Drying Time Again"
J.
Edward Hardin, P.E.
Overview
Humans cannot live without water. But, water can be a burden when it
permeates materials and processes where it doesn't belong. Contrary to
popular belief, water doesn't just "ride along" on the surface of other
materials. Most materials are permeable. Water permeates the
material far beyond the surface. Thus, removing water can be quite a
tricky proposition.
Fortunately, we don't have to reinvent the wheel when it comes to removing water
from materials. Numerous drying processes have been developed and improved
over the years to dry just about any material you can think of. This
course will examine several of the drying processes available to the mechanical
or process engineer.
The student must take a
multiple-choice quiz consisting of twenty (20) questions at the end of
this course to obtain PDH credits.
