Overview
The purpose of this course is to familiarize the engineer with multihazard design. In this course, the design methods used to resist the effects of each natural hazard are discussed in the context of the design methods for the other natural hazards. This integrated approach is a key aspect of multihazard design that must be reflected in a larger integrated approach to the whole building design. Although this material is written for schools, it is applicable to all buildings.
In this course, the student will review Chapter 3 from “Design Guide for Improving School Safety in Earthquakes, Floods, and High Winds”, FEMA P-424 / December 2010.
To earn PDH credits for this course, the student must pass a multiple choice quiz of ten (10) questions.
