Overview
The Office of Federal Lands Highway (FLH) provides program stewardship and transportation engineering services for planning, design, construction, and rehabilitation of the highways and bridges that provide access to and through federally owned lands. FLH publishes The Standard Specifications for the Construction of Roads and Bridges on Federal Highway Projects (FP), which is issued primarily for constructing roads and bridges on Federal Highway projects under the direct administration of the Federal Highway Administration. To complement the FP, the FLH also published the Field Materials Manual to complement the FP. This manual provides general guidance for field personnel on testing & verifying materials on a federally funded construction contract.
This course is intended for engineers, either publicly or privately employed, who are involved or interested in construction projects funded by federal, state, or local government. Course material is based on the FLH Field Materials Manual, October 2008.
