Overview

Engineers, designers, analysts, experimentalists, managers interested in solving fluid flow problems using classical methods will benefit a great deal from this seminar on applied fluid mechanics.

The methods presented in this seminar can be applied to obtain quick solutions to a class of fluid flow problems.  These methods are also suitable for estimating the expected behavior and directional changes for more complex situations.  This seminar is geared towards equipping the engineer with tools to solve a range of fluid flow problems.

Learning Objectives

In this 2 hour web-based seminar, you'll learn....

  • Basics of fluid mechanics – what is fluid mechanics, what are the various types of fluids, what phenomena occur in a moving fluid.

  • Governing equations of fluid mechanics- what equations govern the flow of fluid flow.

  • Types of losses in fluid flow- mechanics of fluid flow losses.

  • Methods for estimation of fluid flow losses – available methods for solving fluid flow problems.

  • Closed-form solutions for computing fluid flow losses – computation of fluid losses for a selected number of shapes.

  • Network modeling for solving fluid flow problems – a practical approach to estimating pressure drop and flow rates.

  • Examples of network modeling – Application of solution methods discussed in the previous sections.

System Requirements

To attend this web seminar, you'll need a computer with a high speed internet connection (DSL or cable modem) and a phone line.  For your comfort, it is recommended that you use a speaker phone to connect to the web seminar.
