Subject Matter Expert Kamran Fouladi, PhD, P.E.

Kamran Fouladi, PhD, P.E., is currently the president of InfoMec, a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) consulting firm, and a managing principal at Navitas Group, an energy consulting company. Dr. Fouladi has over twenty years of experience in the field of mechanical and aerospace engineering. He is a researcher and practitioner of CFD in the thermal management arena specializing in state-of-the-art airflow, thermal management, and energy simulation tools for modeling complex and mission critical applications. Dr. Fouladi is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Pennsylvania, Florida, and Virginia. He has been teaching CFD and other fluid mechanic courses at Villanova University since 2001 both at undergraduate and graduate level.

Dr. Fouladi’s career began at System Analysis Branch of NASA Langley in support of NASA High Speed Research Program serving as principle CFD investigator for sonic-boom assessment and softening of HSCT configurations. He later jointed the Nozzle Technology Group at Pratt and Whitney (P&W) Company in 1997. Subsequently, Dr. Fouladi founded InfoMec CFD consulting in year 2000 to provide state-of-the-art CFD consulting to aerospace organizations. Using in-house, public domain, and commercial codes, Dr. Fouladi and his staff offer engineering and CFD support to projects of national importance such as NASA Crew Exploration Vehicle, NASA Orion’s Launch Abort Vehicle, NASA Orbital Space plane, and NASA supersonic transport and business jet aircraft. Sensing the need to impact the sustainability and energy efficiency of mission critical facilities through CFD and other simulation tools, Dr. Fouladi co-founded Navitas Group in 2009. Through Navitas, Dr. Fouladi provides solutions for design and optimization of high-density data centers by focusing on cooling system's effectiveness.

Dr. Fouladi received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Florida International University and his master’s and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Old Dominion University. He conducted his Ph.D. and post-doctoral research in the area of CFD code development for complex configurations at NASA Langley Research Center. Dr. Fouladi has published extensively and has been a frequent lecturer in conferences, technical symposia, and workshops. He is an active member of several engineering societies (ASME, ASHRAE, AIAA, DVGBC) and has served as technical committee member, local council member as well as chairman, organizer of technical symposiums, and reviewer of journals and technical conferences.
