Brig. General (Ret) Jack Grubbs, P.E., PhD

Brigadier General Jack Grubbs (Ret.), United States Army, a native of San Antonio, Texas, believes he has lived life to the fullest, with gusto and few regrets. He enlisted in the Army in 1959 and subsequently received a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy, a Master of Science degree in Engineering from Princeton University, and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His military career spanned four decades and covered geographical areas from the United States to Vietnam, Korea, and Okinawa. Following the military he spent eight years on the faculty and administrative staff of Tulane University. Upon retirement from Tulane University in 2006, Jack became a principal owner of Simon-Meyer Charlotte, LLC, a construction-consulting firm located in Charlotte, North Carolina. He has written many articles on technical subjects, leadership, and engineering education. Additionally, Jack authored a leadership book, “Leadership: Taking the High Road,” three mysteries with engineering twists and a history one of the most unique military organizations in existence, the Joint Communications Support Element.
