This five-hour course is an overview of the work being done in a Department of Energy project to define the next generation of the electric utility industry. The concept is that future, or modern grid, will be ‘smarter’ than the current electric grid and will be more reliable, more secure, more environmentally friendly, safer, and will have an new economic paradigm where consumers are more actively involved in real-time decision concerning their power consumption.
