This course series is divided into three volumes. This course, Volume I, describes the systems engineering process and includes an overview of system engineering and delves into requirements analysis, functional analysis, design synthesis, verification, and process outputs.

Volume II explains the analysis and control functions of system engineering which includes work breakdown structures, configuration management, technical reviews, trade studies, modeling, metrics and risk management. Volume III discusses system engineering planning, organizing, integration, and contractual considerations for large projects.

This volume is a 3-hour course that covers issues integral to the conduct of a systems engineering effort, from planning to consideration of broader management issues.
