This four hour course focuses on the engineering requirements for a Traffic Impact Study as revised in the 2009 MUTCD. These requirements include: predesign activities; various types of traffic volume studies; traffic signal warrant analyses; condition diagrams; and traffic capacity analyses. This course will enable an engineer to follow the proper procedures in conducting various types of traffic studies as well as the need to present them to governmental agencies having jurisdiction for review and approval. The course includes a detailed example of a Traffic Impact Study that demonstrates the relationship between the configuration of an intersection and how vehicles and pedestrians interact. This course will be especially helpful to Highway Engineers and Traffic Engineers, and others involved in site development and planning.

Participants taking this course will learn the importance of collecting sufficient data to properly complete a Traffic Impact Study.
