On-Site Training | Program Summary | List of Seminar Topics – International | Renewable Energy

Course Number: PDHEI-005

Length of Course: 8 hours

Seminar Location: This seminar is available for on-site training in international locations

In Renewable Energy, you’ll learn …

  • The required footprint and relative cost differences between some of the major, proven, renewable energy systems and sources
  • Advantages, disadvantages and implementation challenges for each renewable energy technology
  • How to perform an objective cost and benefit comparison between renewable and non-renewable energy alternatives
  • Cutting edge and yet unproven renewable energy systems that hold much promise for the future

Overview

Renewable energy is energy that comes from resources which are continually replenished such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat. While many renewable energy projects are large-scale, renewable technologies are also suited to rural and remote areas, as well as small expansion projects attached to larger facilities. The amount of global final energy consumption that comes from renewable resources currently stands at 16% and continues to increase. Thus, it is imperative that engineers, technicians, facility managers and energy managers familiarize themselves with renewable energy technologies.

In this seminar, you’ll learn the principles, practicality and potential of some of the leading sources of renewable energy. The seminar begins with a brief introduction of the basics of energy and power. The presentation then explores the required footprint and relative cost differences of the major, proven, renewable energy systems and sources. Cutting edge and yet unproven renewable energy systems, which hold much promise for the future, are also discussed. You will also learn about the cost structure of utility or grid based electricity, as well as how to perform an objective cost and benefit comparison between renewable and non-renewable energy alternatives.

Diagrams, schematics and pictures pertaining to major renewable energy systems are used throughout the presentation to aid in understanding the material.
