Here is a summary of the engineering continuing education requirements mandated by the Indiana State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.

|Renewal Dates||July 31 of even-numbered years|
|Board Approval||Title 864 of the Indiana Administrative Code states that courses approved by the Board are automatically accepted for PDH credit. PDHengineer submitted and received Board approval for several online courses in 2011. In the fall of 2011, the Board suspended all ongoing course reviews. The Board clarified the requirements for course approvals in its November, 2011 meeting and on the Board’s website. If the Board has approved any of an organization’s courses, then all other courses by that organization will be accepted without the need for review or approval by the Board, as long as the course enhances the knowledge and skill of the engineer. PDHengineer has a number of courses that have been approved by the Board. Therefore, all other PDHengineer courses are accepted by the Board, subject to the stipulations above.|
Otherwise, there are no specific restrictions on course content. In general, the course must be “designed to directly enhance a professional engineer’s knowledge and skill in providing services relevant to the practice.”
|Approved Activities||Distance learning courses are specifically listed as approved activities. There is no limit on the number of hours that can be earned through distance learning.|
|PDH Carryover||A maximum of 15 PDH may be carried forward into the next renewal period.|
