PDHengineer.com's
course authors are leading subject matter
experts in their fields of expertise. Their collective experience
represents a wealth of practical knowledge gained through education and
professional practice in the "real world."
PDHengineer.com takes a number of steps to ensure
that our courses meet the standard of quality that our site visitors have come
to expect:
-
All PDHengineer course authors who provide courses
in the core engineering subjects are evaluated by our staff to insure they are
qualified to teach the subject matter either through formal education,
professional experience, or a combination of both education and
experience.
-
Course authors who cover subjects outside of the
core engineering disciplines (i.e. economics, geology, etc) are subject to the
same evaluation procedure to insure qualification to instruct in the area to be
taught. This qualification will be demonstrated by formal education,
professional experience, or a combination of both.
-
97% of our course authors are PEs (active or
retired). A majority of the remainder are licensed in other specialties (i.e.
geology).
-
Approximately 2/3 of our course authors possess
graduate degrees and 50% have taught at the university level.
In addition to the high standards that we set for
PDHengineer course authors, PDHengineer.com has a rigorous process in place to
review course material prior to publishing. Every course is reviewed and
tested by professional engineers before the course is made available to the
general public on the website. Outside consultants are hired to review
courses prior to publication, when necessary, to supplement our in-house
expertise.
Why do we set
stringent standards for course authors?
PDHengineer.com believes that continuing
education helps engineers to grow professionally, but more importantly helps
to protect the public welfare. In the fast-paced world that we live
in, it is difficult for any professional to keep up with all the changes.
In a technology-focused profession such as engineering, it is particularly
challenging to stay abreast of the latest codes, standards and practices.
Additionally, many of the basic concepts that
we learned in college or used early in our careers are not retained because
we just don't use them to perform our day-to-day job functions. For
all of these reasons, we are very serious about continuing education.
Our highest priority is to ensure that we offer quality courses that will
help professional engineers to improve their skills and knowledge, which
will in turn help to protect the public welfare.
The state engineering boards that have passed
legislation requiring continuing education for engineers no doubt have the
same objectives as we do. However, the state boards have chosen not to require any
specific education or professional qualifications for continuing education
providers. Rather, they typically state in broad terms that the
provider must be knowledgeable by virtue of his/her education and
experience.
PDHengineer.com feels that a thorough a review of a potential instructor's
qualifications, work history, professional experience, past accomplishments,
professional designations and awards allows us to more readily judge the ability
to teach the subject material to professional engineers. We challenge the
instructors to provide relevant, interesting course materials written in a clear
concise manner. Every course is then independently reviewed by a licensed
professional engineer who provides feedback and commentary to the author.
PDHengineer.com prides itself on imposing stringent standards on its course authors. It is one of the steps that we take to ensure the
highest standard of quality for our courses.
