James Doane, P.E., PhD
James Doane, P.E., PhD, earned his PhD from the University of Louisville in Mechanical Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Indiana. Dr. Doane has over 20 years of experience with a combination of industry and academics, and he served as department chair for the University of Jamestown. Graduate research work focused on areas of wave propagation in elastic solids, structural vibration, smart structures, and engineering biomechanics. His industry background focuses on areas of material handling and mining. He has worked as a design engineer for conveyor companies and engineering design firms.
Dr. Doane worked for Frontier Kemper as the Mechanical Engineering Manager working in areas of underground construction and mining equipment. His work involved all areas of design from power transmission to structural support towers. Dr. Doane has authored numerous research papers on topics including structural health monitoring, biomechanics, and engineering education.
