This course provides a review of all the recent changes to the laws and rules that govern the practice of engineering in the state of Florida.
The course begins with a brief overview of the sections of the Florida Administrative Code and the Florida Statutes that are applicable to professional engineers, as well as the roles of the Board and the Florida Engineering Management Corporation (FEMC).
The next three sections cover changes to the following regulations that were adopted, repealed or amended between March 1, 2015 and February 28, 2017:
- Chapter 471, F.S., The Florida Engineer Licensure Law
- Chapter 61G-15, F.A.C., The Rules of the Florida Board of Professional Engineers
- Chapter 455, F.S., Relating to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation
The course concludes with some recent examples of disciplinary cases and unlicensed practice cases in the state of Florida.

- Specifics of the rewrite to 61G15-23, which covers Engineering Seals, including rules for electronic seals and signatures
- Updates for new applicants who do not have an engineering degree accredited by EAC / ABET
- Updates to the board’s fee schedule
- Rewritten rule regarding the design of cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete structural systems
- Clarification of requirements for the design of structural systems utilizing open web steel joists and joist girders
