As Professional Engineers, we research, analyze, map out solutions, and review how these solutions were effective in our respective businesses. How many of us can say that we have a career plan written down? Of those that do have one, how many can say that it has been recently reviewed? Less than 15% of professionals in any field create a career plan, and more than 75% who do achieve everything on the plan, and some exceed it.

This course does not focus exclusively on career planning, but also on twelve problem areas for Professional Engineers. Improving these areas can have a positive effect on everyday work experiences. There are real-life examples and step-by-step instructions and formulas to take with you. Some of the areas covered are integrity, communications, time management, organization, decision making, organizational savvy, teamwork, managing change, and innovation.

This course also addresses the differences between being a Leader and a Manager. Even though both are necessary, one is more likely to be a learned skill; the other comes naturally and requires refinement. Lastly, you will be able to determine if your career will be as a technical expert, managing people, or both.
