Mr. Layton holds a BS in electrical engineering from Auburn University, an
MBA from Keller Graduate School, and is a licensed professional engineer
in Georgia and North Carolina. He has over 30 years experience in the
electric utility industry. His areas of expertise include distribution
design, planning, metering, system operations, telecommunications, energy
conservation, and relaying. Mr. Layton is presently an executive in the
electric utility industry where he is responsible for engineering, system
operations, customer service, and marketing for a small electric utility.
He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic
Engineers (IEEE) and is a member of the National Society of Professional
Engineers (NSPE). Mr. Layton has been involved in research projects
including serving on Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) committees
and Cooperative Research Network (CRN) committees.
He has developed and taught over 100 courses for utility professionals in
the areas of metering, relaying, equipment application, system protection,
and distribution line design. Mr. Layton has published articles
concerning utility operations in various trade publications.
