G. D. Tim Atkinson, Ph.D., P.E., is a consulting engineer in private
practice in Round Rock, Texas. Since 1987 he has been president of
Atkinson Engineering, Inc., where he directs and performs failure
analyses in the areas of structural, foundation, and geotechnical
engineering, and designs structural and foundation repairs and additions.
Dr. Atkinson has consulted on more than 2900 projects in Central Texas.
These have involved sampling soil from beneath more than 1200 buildings.
Dr. Atkinson serves on the residential foundation subcommittee of the
Texas Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was a
contributing author to the 2002 TxASCE publications,
Guidelines for the Evaluation and Repair of Residential Foundations,
(with R. F. Pierry, Jr., et al.), and
Recommended Practice for the Design of Residential Foundations, (with
P. G. King, et al.).
Dr. Atkinson holds the following degrees from The University of Texas:
Doctor of Philosophy (1971), Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
(1969), and Bachelor of Engineering Science (1966). He became licensed as
a professional engineer in Texas in 1973. |
