Continuing Education (PDH) Requirements

Kentucky engineers are now required to earn PDH prior to each license renewal. Effective with renewals June 30, 2010 the Kentucky Board now requires 30 PDH for each biennial renewal period.

Engineers with last names beginning with L through Z must complete 30 PDH before their renewal June 30, 2010. Engineers with last names beginning with A through K must complete 30 PDH before their renewal June 30, 2011.PDHengineer has an Iron-Clad Money-Back Guarantee

PEs will certify on their license renewal form that they have completed the required continuing education courses. Five percent of the applications submitted will be chosen for PDH audit each year. To comply with the new law, engineers should maintain a log of PDH activity and keep copies of the certificates of completion. Kentucky Board Requirements

Below is a summary of the Board's continuing education requirements for engineers licensed in the state of Kentucky:

Subject Requirement
Hours Required 30 hours biennially beginning with renewals June 30, 2010
Renewal Dates June 30 odd years for engineers with last names beginning with A - K
June 30 even years for engineers with last names beginning with L - Z
Course Approval The Board does not pre-approve providers or specific courses. Each engineer must determine whether an activity meets the Board's requirements.
Course Content Courses must be (1) relevant to the practice of engineering, (2) contain technical, ethical, or managerial subjects, (3) be an organized program of learning, (4) be conducted by individuals with education, training or expertise, and (5) not include in-service training, orientation to specific institutional practices, or time used to advertise or sell a product.
Online Courses Accepted. There is no limit on the number of hours that can be earned through online continuing education.
PDH Carryover A maximum of 15 PDH may be carried forward into the next renewal period.
