New Mexico PEs are required to earn 30 PDH biennially, including 4 in ethics. Below is a summary of the Board's continuing education requirements for engineers licensed in the state of New Mexico:

| Renewal Dates | December 31 of even-numbered years for engineers with license numbers
ending with an even number. December 31 of odd-numbered years for engineers with license numbers ending with an odd number. |
| Course Approval | The Board does not pre-approve providers or specific courses. Each engineer must determine whether an activity meets the Board's requirements. |
| Course Content | Must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve, or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of engineering. At least 4 PDH must be earned in ethics. |
| Online Courses | Accepted. For Professional Engineers, there is no limit on the number of PDHs that can be earned using online courses. |
| PDH Carryover | A maximum of 15 PDH may be carried forward into the next renewal period |
