South Dakota PEs are required to earn 30 PDH biennially, and all of your PDH can be earned with online courses. While the state board does not mandate or pre-approve specific courses or providers, they do require that at least 20 of the 30 required hours pertain to the protection of the Health, Safety, and Welfare. The remaining 10 PDH can be earned in the areas of management, ethics and computer training (with the exception of CADD). The Board allows "Successful completion of correspondence, televised, videotaped, audiotaped, Internet and other short courses or tutorials with verifiable passing scores from examinations.” Note that all PDHengineer online courses require the completion of an online multiple-choice quiz with a passing grade of 70%.
