Many project engineers and managers believe that people assigned to projects will automatically be as productive as possible because they are professionals, and they are "supposed to".

The reality, however, is often very different because levels of individual commitment are based upon the team member's perceptions of shared risks, rewards, threats, and opportunities.

This course teaches potential team builders very simple and highly effective methods of communicating those shared risks, rewards, etc. for maximum team productivity and provides a comprehensive guide aimed at helping individuals understand and implement effective team-building strategies for unique projects. It covers various aspects of team building, from understanding its definition to implementing practical strategies for successful teamwork.

The guide begins by defining team building and emphasizing the importance of having everyone work together towards a common goal.

It then explores the fundamental questions associated with team building, such as why it is necessary, what the desired outcomes are, and how it should be executed.

The guide concludes with final thoughts on delegating tasks, using periodic reviews to stay focused, and maintaining team motivation through Maslow’s Pyramid and practical motivation factors. It offers powerful questions to break negotiation stalemates and reinforces the importance of focusing on interests for satisfactory outcomes.

Please Note:

    1. There is nothing special coming up, it is just that our team’s day-to-day work performance needs to improve. (This is NOT the focus of this course.)

    2. There is a unique project coming up and we all need to work together for a maximum chance of success. (This IS the focus of this course.)

If you are seeing those characteristics of #1 above on your team, we have two other courses on this website that deal more in-depth with day-to-day team performance issues that will be helpful: Analyzing Employee Performance Problems and Motivating People.
