This course is specifically designed for Ohio-licensed engineers to qualify as a "timed and monitored" online course. The course contains an automatic timer that prevents the user from accessing the quiz and earning a certificate of completion until the minimum amount of study time has been met. This achieves the Ohio Board's intent that an online course should be "paced" by the provider. For more information, please see the Ohio state requirements. This course may also be accepted in other states (see the "Board Acceptance" tab above).

Anytime a product is designed from scratch or being modified, there are many competing requirements that must be met, including performance, quality, cost, manufacturability, assembly, and of course, product safety. Product safety has become more and more important over the years as the level of awareness of this requirement has been highlighted by the government and by the legal community, who pursue manufacturers every year for millions of dollars when their product is deemed unsafe or causes significant property damage.

The government and legal system demand that products are safe above and beyond what code requirements drive for that particular device. Most companies are aware of this potential liability but don’t fully understand what product safety truly encompasses or take a haphazard approach to this requirement and have no formal system in place to ensure the products they make have been designed to be safe upfront. The intent of this webinar is to explore all aspects of product safety.

Product safety will be defined, and the hazards which must be considered will be identified. From there, we will learn how to proactively design in product safety upfront and some of the tools which are available to accomplish that goal.

This video is a recording of a live webinar training session. As a recording of a live event, you will hear the discussion that occurred between the instructor and those who attended this webinar.
