Anti-Friction Bearing Fundamentals (Ohio Timed & Monitored Video)
Credit: 2 PDH
Subject Matter Expert: Jonathan Russell, BEng (Hons)
In Anti-Friction Bearing Fundamentals , you'll learn ...
- Bearing theory (friction, loads, etc.)
- Bearing types and applications
- Bearing components and operating principle
- Bearing lubrication principles
Overview

To meet the Ohio Board's intent that online courses be "paced" by the provider, a timer will be used to record your study time. You will be unable to access the quiz until the required study time of 105 minutes has been met.

Humans have been using anti-friction bearings (rolling contact bearings) for thousands of years. But what are anti-friction bearings? Why are there so many different types? And why does every engineer need to know a little bit about them? The answers to all of these questions are in this course!
The course is designed to take you from zero to hero concerning anti-friction bearing knowledge. Even if you already have some background bearing knowledge, this course will serve as an efficient refresher. Whatever your level of understanding or engineering background, you have likely never taken an engineering course like this one.
Interactive 3D models are used extensively to show you each bearing component and how these components work together. The course is packed with images, 2D animations, 3D animations, and high-quality narrated content.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Bearing terminology
- History of anti-friction bearings
- Ball and roller bearings
- Bearing types (thrust, angular, self-aligning, etc.)
- Which bearings are suitable for which application
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 16 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
